Filming at The India Shop

Well - the Salisbury change over was even more exciting than I thought it would be (the furniture room looks amazing now with all new pieces)! Anyway while the shop was truly chaotic and we were all quite dischevelled and dirty a fun group of people called in and it transpired that they were Daylight Music Productions from Southampton and they wanted to film a video in our shop. All hammering was suspended while the artist Fifi Smart sang beautifully and the finished video should be on You-Tube,
 On Saturday John went to a Fair Trade Event in Thatcham. Not many stall holders were there but it was a very nice day and the Thatcham Wildlife park is a lovely place to visit.
  This week we are expecting some deliveries from India and will be able to pop some new stock into our shops and also to get it on line. Things sometimes take so long to arrive from India that when they do come it is a nice surprise like Christmas!
  Wantage has got a mid-season Sale going on so there are lots of bargains there in addition to our Mother's Day promotion. Lets hope that this lovely weather lasts as everything looks even better in the sunshine...

Furniture Changeover Day

Well - today is really exciting - a complete make over for our Salisbury shop. Yesterday I selected some new pieces with a bit of a Spring feel from our Warehouse and John and Heidi prepared them for the van and this morning we will trundle off for the big swap over. Winter is still with us but I think we will all feel better for a Spring clean and a new look.
The Fair Trade Fair in Devizes at the weekend was a great success, with our Easter papier mache selling well. This year there were local businesses as well which meant therewas plenty to buy.
So - off to Salisbury now, more later

The Start of the Blog

 As well as being a beautiful day here in the heart of Wiltshire it is a day of triumph as we have finally mastered the blog sign-in after a year!
 It could not have come at a better time as The India Shop is celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight in a big way, our shops  are all displaying  a lovely collage of posters highlighting the work of the Papier mache makers up in Kashmir. The group's leader has master- minded the building of a new hospital to serve the poor people of Srinigar and The India Shop has donated a cot for premature babies in the hospital.
We are also showcasing the beautiful hand painted papier mache Easter eggs and Easter boxes made by these skilled craftsmen.
We are busy preparing for the Fairtrade Fairs and will have tables at Devizes on March 3rd and Thatcham on March 10th. Our stock is also going to Netheravon on March 10th. Fairtrade fairs are always fun and we look forward to comparing notes with other Fair Trade importers
Our Salisbury shop has had a big make-over today and I went to see the team there. They are also offering unusual gifts for Mother's Day including some boxes from the papier mache artisans.
